It's Great to be a Pennington Tiger!

What's Happening

JB Pennington graduation will be held at William R. Sutton Memorial Stadium on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at 7:30 in the evening.  Guests will be seated every other row in the home and visitor stands. It is imperative that we maintain a six feet distance between families. We will have ushers to help with these procedures.  Each graduate will be given two tickets for their parents or guardians to be on the field in chairs for preferable seating areas directly in front of the graduates.  These chairs will be in groups of two six feet apart.  They can be moved according to household situations  There will also be Photo Opportunities in four designated areas as your child passes in front of the podiums to receive their Diplomas.

Other guests, please give priority to other parents, grandparents, and siblings when seating in our stadium   To rest your minds, Graduates and faculty will also  be seated on the field maintaining the six feet distancing.  Graduates will be seated at the south end of the stadium facing the north end zone towards our scoreboard. At this time there will not be marching in or out of our graduates to ensure their safety.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, guests,.other than the ones on our field during the ceremony, will not be allowed to come on to the football field. If there is any congregating it needs to be with on field family. The graduates will soon exit the field and join the rest of their families and friends. Please maintain the six feet distance. We all need to be off campus as soon as the ceremony and spontaneous celebration is over.  We will also be streaming our ceremony live on Facebook at Pennington Pride. This Page is public and can be viewed by anyone with a Facebook account.  Because of this, we ask if you have little or no affiliation with our graduates to please watch online instead of attending in person. I say this will all due respect and for the safety of all our guests.

Lastly, we ask that all of our PHS family be patient with these new procedures.  We are very thankful that we can give our seniors the temporary exit form PHS that they deserve. I say temporary, because they are all welcome back home.  A week or so ago we did not think this was possible, but. God has Blessed our Seniors and God has Blessed J.B. Pennington High.

Good Afternoon PHS Parents and Students I hope this message finds you safe.  This particular message is for ALL PHS Students and it is to let you know that we will be having a dropoff day this Friday May 15th for Student Packets, Text Books, Library Books and school athletic uniforms providing they are not already here or if they have not already been turned in.

Also remember that all student work is due by May, 15th either by packet form or online Remember this will definitely count as a grade.  The hours of dropoff will be between 8 AM and 4 PM starting this Friday morning.  Please have you materials organized and clearly marked for separation purposes.  The Drop off procedures will be the same as the pick up procedures in that you will arrive behind the visitor football bleachers and turn in between the school building and the Ag Building.  Our Faculty and Staff  will be there to meet you and receive your materials promptly.

If you have an outstanding lunch balance you can bring this to us or you can go to “my payment plus” to settle your account.  Mrs. Debbie sent out letters last week to Seniors and for those that have a balance of over 5 dollars. Please bring exact change if you plan to do this. All lunch accounts have to be settled before graduation or report cards are passed out. Again, make sure that you bring everything listed above that you have at home and all fees and all extracurricular balances are at zero.  Also again make sure to scan your home for anything that needs to be returned to school such as student work, textbooks and library books especially. Seniors make sure that you have turned in and paid all your fines.  This has to be completed before graduation exercises occur.

Seniors As far as graduation ceremonies, we are still waiting on the absolute go ahead from our Central Office to be able to perform these.  We have developed more than one plan to make sure that you have your graduation day sooner rather than later. I will send another message as soon as we hear the final word regarding graduation from our Central Office. This current message will be viewable at pennington tigers.com and on social media platforms if you have missed any parts of this information.

During these times and as the stay at home orders are being lifted we ask that at all times no matter if you are driving or riding, front seat or back seat please wear your seat belt. We love and miss all of you and can't wait to see you in August!

Drivers Education Information (Message from Coach Vaughn) Each student who has not already passed the driving test needs to document six hours of driving with your parents and put it on paper with their signature. If you have not already passed your driving test I am sorry to say we will not be able to complete it this semester. If you have a 59 for a grade you need to pay your Driver Education fee so we can adjust your grade. Make checks payable to Pennington High School Thanks and be safe, Coach Vaughn Good afternoon PHS parents.  Tomorrow Monday April 6th will be our first packet pick up day for those students that cannot get on the internet to do their assignments.  Because of the Stay Home Order by Governor Ivey, please only come pick up packets if you absolutely have too. I can’t emphasize that enough.  We will have a group of teachers working with us from 11:00 AM until 1 PM each Monday to put together and give out these packets. Remember online work and packets will be very similar if not identical, and minimal for our students.  We just want to make sure they are doing something to sharpen their skills. We have come to the consensus as a faculty that we will spend a little extra time in the fall for review of skills that we would have taught during this Spring.  Please have your students check their Student EMAILS daily for assigned work.  This can be done on a phone or any other device that they have that connects to the internet with little or no problem for our students.  This is the way that they respond to things at school such as class registration and voting on different things at school. They are familiar with this procedure.  Each Student should know their username as it will end with penningtontigers.com and their password is their lunch number. If they have forgotten their lunch number then we have a list of those to email to you. It would be best to email Ms. Copeland bcopeland@blountboe.net , Mr. Bryson sabryson@blountboe.net or myself bkirk@blountboe.net , but most students should know their passwords (lunch number). All students  can correspond with their teachers in this way.

Seniors can disregard this message if they have passed all previous classes and do not have credit recovery work and also have passed everything this past third nine-weeks.

Senior yearbook ad information: If you will email your info to jbpyearbook@gmail.com we can get everything we need.

‚ÄčPrincipal's Message to Class of 2019

Class of 2019, I implore you; please do not fight for the "cause of the day," without exhausting all measures of honest reflection and discernment. I plead with you to not suffer moral decay without a fight and don’t allow your hard work to be shared with those who do not choose your work ethic and your desired path to success.
