Library Mission Statement
The mission of our high school library is to inspire a lifelong love of reading, learning, and discovery in every student who walks through our doors. We believe that books have the power to open minds, expand horizons, and transport readers beyond their current circumstances to places of possibility, understanding, and growth.
Our library is a welcoming space where curiosity is encouraged and questions are valued. While no one person holds all the answers, we strive to equip students with the skills and resources to seek knowledge, think critically, and find those answers for themselves. Through access to diverse materials, supportive guidance, and a culture of exploration, we empower students to become confident, independent learners.
Above all, we aim to cultivate a community where reading is not just an assignment, but a gateway—to imagination, to opportunity, and to a broader world.
Book Checkout: Students may check out two books and may keep them for two weeks. Re-checks are allowed! Sometimes it takes longer than two weeks to finish a book. The library schedule is open for check ins and outs all day.
Resources: As your school librarian, I want you to know about two resources you can use anywhere! I want you to have access to these resources outside of the library so you can research and learn anytime you need—whether you’re at home, working on homework, or exploring your own interests. Having reliable information at your fingertips helps you stay prepared, build confidence in your work, and become a more independent, responsible learner.
The Alabama Virtual Library (AVL), is an incredible free resource available to all students in our state. AVL gives you access to reliable, up-to-date articles, encyclopedias, magazines, and research databases that you won’t find through a simple internet search. Whether you’re working on a history paper, a science project, or just exploring a topic that interests you, AVL helps you find trustworthy information quickly and easily. Using AVL not only strengthens your research skills but also ensures your work is accurate, credible, and ready for high school—and even college—success.

Online Public Access Catalog: Accessing our school library card catalog outside the library allows you to search for books, check availability, and plan your reading or research before you even walk through the doors. It saves you time, helps you discover new titles, and ensures you can make the most of your library visits by knowing exactly what resources are ready for you.Click the link below to access our online library catalog. Students can search for books by keyword, title, author, subject, or series, and then, click “Details” to read book summaries and locate call numbers.
